Welcome to Code Red Kettlebells
Whether your workout has plateaued, or you are looking to add a new spark to your fitness regimen you should strongly consider trying kettlebells. Everyone from professional athletes, to elite military units and Hollywood celebrities can be found using kettlebells. It is probably time that you discovered what all of the buzz is about.
First and foremost, kettlebells build functional strength. This is the strength you need to perform everyday activities such as picking up several bags of grocery and lifting them into a vehicle. Training with kettlebells activates multiple muscle groups and works your body through ranges of motion that most people would not otherwise encounter in the gym. The goal of many kettlebell exercises is to work muscles in conjunction with each other, as they were meant to be used. The swing, snatch, Turkish get-up, and clean and press are perfect examples of exercises that involve almost every muscle in group in the body and they are all staple kettlebell exercise.
Kettlebells are an ideal tool for circuit training, which is an extremely effective fat burning method. Due to their versatility you can literally move from one exercise to the next, seamlessly, without ever putting the kettlebell down or switching weights. This allows you to accomplish more work in less time, which is ultimately how gains in strength and size are created. These workouts can be extremely challenging and are definitely the way to go if you are looking to burn fat.
Kettlebells can be more difficult to use than dumbbells of the same weight. This difficulty helps to make them more effective and forces your body to cope with additional demands that a dumbbell or barbell might not create. The center of gravity on a kettlebell falls almost 8 inches below the palm of the user’s hand, instead of directly on the center of the palm. Also, kettlebells force the user to balance and stabilize the weight of the kettlebell. These factors work to add difficulty to a workout.
Finally, there are a number of excellent instructional videos available that teach user’s how to properly use kettlebells; however, it is recommended that you seek the assistance of a qualified instructor for at least one short introductory kettlebell lesson. This will insure that your workouts will be effective, safe, and fun.
